Landed myself at another Final Table today.

After getting sucked out of the 15K guaranteed just before the money, I made a ferocious comeback minutes later.

Here's the scenario: Pacific Poker, $5 + .50c buy in. 689 Players. No Limit Speed tourny.
The blinds increase every 5 minutes.

Usually I don't like these speed tourny's, but for $5 what the heck let's shove some chips around.
These speed tournaments are crap shoots, and you really have to get lucky to survive considering the insane amount of all ins. People are getting blinded to death right and left, so it is not uncommon to see people all in with QJ, or similar, and even unsuited.

Well, I got a bit lucky, and took advantage of some great opportunities, and place my self
in 2nd place for $482.30........Booooooyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Been lagging....

Sorry about no new posts folks, I have been lagging. Actually I have been spending about 10 hours a day playing poker, and have had nil time to be typing away.

It has been gruelling, but a very rewarding week. I have not really won that much in cash, but it's amazing the amount of knowledge you can learn in a few weeks.

Amazingly, my biggest story of late is how I laid down a hand as opposed to winning a big hand.
Too bad I know, but hey you can't win them all.

I am going to try and start posting every other day, to keep things fresh and let ya know what's up.

Good luck all.

Finally won a Live Tournament

I play 95% of all my poker online. Considering the drive time it takes to make it to the casino's, tips, gas, etc. etc., playing online seems much more profitable. While online seems to bring in better cash, sometimes a guy wants some real live action.

I have done well at Live Cash Games, but as far as Live Tournaments with more than 50 players I have never made it into the money, until last night that is. I would say that I have only played in 10 Live Tourny's, and the majority of the time I make it down towards the final table and my pocket pairs get beat by a lower pocket pair hitting trips, or, you know the deal.

Last night, the buy in was $30 with a optional $20 rebuy (about 65 players). Usually I am avidly against rebuy's online, but when at a casino or private home game you cannot get into another game instantly and if you want to continue playing you have to pony up the dough or drive an hour home in misery. Mathematically rebuys are stupid, but I guess I was feeling a bit stupid last night.

I was weak throughout the entire tournament until the blinds hit 500/1000. I finally started catching some hands and built a modest stack of about 15,000 (which was the average at the time). Then I landed two huge hands, my QQ against A6. Flop hit 10 6 8 and I bet, opponent goes all in and I call winning about 35,000 in chips. A bit later against the same player I was holding 99 and the board hit 10 2 6. He checks, and I check. 7 falls on the turn and he goes all in again. I was so close to folding thinking he had A 10. I was fairly sure he did not have a pocket pair and I called to see he was playing A 2. Baam, that guy was the key to my victory.
From there my stack was very dominant and I was able to play my usual aggressive game shoving people around.

So were down to heads up 4000/8000 blinds, and I have twice the chips as my opponent. I have played a marvelous game until this point, and when I put in a raise most people were respecting it. So I decide to steal my opponents 8000 blind as he limps into the pot for 4000.
I raise 30,000 with my 3 4 off suit knowing he is going to fold. When he folded I was sure to show my lame hand infuriating him, and hoping to set him up for a huge all in very soon. Sure enough it worked. His play loosened up and mine switched back to tight waiting for the right moment. 5 or 6 hands later, I got the all in I wanted and won the $691 for first.

It's about time.................$$$$$$$$$$

Back from Vegas

I wish I could tell you that I cleaned house in Vegas, and came home with tons of cash, poker bracelets, and lots of stories. Rather, I spent most of my time with my fiancee taking in the sites, and going to shows and stuff. I did have the chance to play a few tourny's but my KK ended up against AA and I am sure you can figure out the rest.

As far as the gambling goes, I did end up a couple hundred bucks ahead, (thanks to the 2/4 limit table at the Sahara). It took me eons to make that cash though. I started out a few hundred down and it took decades of patience to get my money back and then some. I was forced to play until 6 in the morning to recoup my loses. Luckily from 4 am to 6 am I had those tired players read like a "See Spot Run" book and was able to make a nice little profit after getting my losses back.

I'm off to Vegas in the morning.

Well folks, wish me luck as I am off to Las Vegas in the morning. I picked up an extra $500 bucks at Pacific Poker in the last 2 days and will add that to my bankroll to play with. For some reason I have a hard time believing that I will find any games in Vegas that are as good as the ones I have access to online. It is unlikely the Bellagio would let me hang out for an hour taking notes on all the players before I play.

Anyway's it shall be fun, I am sure of that. This will be my second time to "Sin City" (although I plan on commiting none), and if it's anything like the first I will be very happy.

Watch me make it into the "World Series of Poker"

Ola Amigos,

I want to invite you all to take part in watching me on ESPN come this summer, as I play at the World Series of Poker.

Well ok, I have not made it into the WSOP yet, nor can I imagine ponying up 10 large ones to buy in. With thousand upon thousands of entrants, I can think of a hundred places I could spend my 10 grand and have a better chance of winning. Ok, so I am not going to spend the money to get in, but you better belive I will try to win a entry through a satellite tournament. Here you can peruse my stories about my attempts to get into the World Series of Poker.

Ok, on Feb 19th there is a satellite tournament at Inter Poker for entry into the WSOP New Orleans regional tournament. Buy in is $150 + $10 and they are awarding a prize of $10,000 entry into WSOP, $2000 cash, 5 nights Free Hotel for every 80 players who register. Well those of you who know me know how cheap I am , and I am not so content firing away a buck fifty repeatedly trying to get into this tournament.

Therefore I decided to play the $10 +$1 smaller satellite to gain access into the $150 satellite. In this smaller satellite they offer a seat into the $150 satellite for every 16 $10 entrants.

Inter Poker Satellite: 19 entrants

So I start playing and just cannot get any decent cards. When I do, everyone else has dirt. I make it down to the last 4 players but only have about 2900 in chips and am the small stack. Chumpmaster to my left tries to snake my blind with a 150 raise and I call with 10 8 suited. Flop delivers me a flush draw and a pair.
Chumpmaster makes a small bet, and I consider raising but just call. Bamn Flush hits on 4th street. Chumpmaster bets 1000, and I go all in. He calls with his higher flush.

Well, thats the way it goes. Hopefully I'll have better luck next time. Cmon back and watch my progress and let me know how you are doing as well. I'll try and provide all the spots with WSOP satellites and even some FREE ROLLS at
Absolute Poker.

Revealed, Online Poker Cheaters. "Party Poker Rigged" Busted, and WE got PROOF!!!

Hello Friends,

The heartbreak I am feeling right now is undescribable. I am having a hard time coping with what has been shockingly revealed to me today.

I have written many posts, and a few chapters on the idea of online poker rooms cheating their customers. It had long been my opinion that the rake in which the poker rooms recieve is so enormous, that they would have to be morons to cheat anyone. They are going to get their profits, no matter what.

While I would never trust some random "Poker Joe's Antarctic Poker Room", I have always been extremely confident in rooms like Party Poker, Ultimate Bet, Golden Palace, Empire Poker, etc. etc.

Well, things have changed. I am so sad to even be showing this. Please brace yourself, take a deep breath, and relax because what I about to reveal to you might just "Blow your Lid". After spendind thousands of dollars at these poker rooms, I am outraged at what is obviously clear now.

Beware if you check out this link, you might never trust another poker site again.

My deepest apologies,

My first post.

Hello there folks,

Welcome to my Poker Nutz blog. This is my first post, and I have so many millions of things to say but no idea where to start. Over the next few weeks I will be posting all kinds of stuff here, stuff like.

$ My attempts to make it into the 2005 World Series of Poker
$ Places where you can get the best bang for your buck
$ My bad beat stories, (hopefully these posts will be so minute you will never see them, haha)
$ Poker related stories
$ So on, and so on, and so on.

Basically you can come here to find out what is going on with me on any given day. Find out how much I won, lost, etc. etc. etc.

I know the site still needs a bit of tweeking here and there. Please be patient as I am a rookie web developer. I can't stand having to waste time learning the computer when I should be at the tables playing. Maybe I should hire a web designer? Hmmm, well it's sorta fun to learn everything on my own, but geez it sure takes a lot of my time, and time is not cheap around here.

Once again, thanks for checking out my Poker Nutz Blog and come back often and let me know what you think.

Peace, and Good luck.
